The Greene County Treasurer is a constitutional officer as set forth in the Constitution of Virginia, who is elected by the citizens of Greene County.
Responsibilities of the Treasurer are to collect and record all tax revenues and local fees, to represent Greene County in banking matters, and to manage the investments of County funds.
TAX DUE DATE EXTENDED TO DECEMBER 6, 2018
The real estate and personal property tax due date for the second half of 2018 has been extended to December 6, 2018 due to the National Day of Mourning to honor President H.W. Bush that has been declared for Wednesday, December 5th.
The Treasurer’s office will be open Wednesday, December 5th, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
We will resume normal window hours on Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Mail postmarked by December 6, 2018 will be considered paid on time.

Do I owe personal property tax for property I've sold?
Greene County is NOT a prorating locality. If the property was owned on January 1st of the tax year, then tax is due for the entire year. Conversely, you are not taxed on personal property that you purchased during the tax year. Further questions should be directed to the Commissioner of Revenue.
